Gicleé Reproductions
“A Gicleé (zhee-klay)
is a printing reproduction process providing better color accuracy than by
other current means of reproducing oil paintings. A digital image of the
painting is printed on canvas using a high quality 8-color or 12-color ink
jet printer. The ink used is a pigment ink rather than a dye ink and is
considered archival quality. The canvas is then treated with a water
resistant coating that also provides UV protection. This canvas is then
stretched on stretchers (or mounted on foam board for the smaller sizes).
